Lethbridge was an English archaeologist, parapsychologist, and explorer who served as the honorary Keeper of Anglo-Saxon Antiquities at the Cambridge University Museum of Archaeology and Ethnology from 1923 to 1957.He initially gained recognition for Arctic exploration, becoming part of the first team to climb Jan Mayen's Beerenberg volcano, before shifting his focus to archaeology and later paranormal studies. His academic career was marked by controversy, particularly his 1957 book Gogmagog: The Buried Gods, in which he claimed to have discovered lost Iron Age hill figures at Wandlebury Hill; most archaeologists rejected his methods as unorthodox and his conclusions as misidentified natural features. Following his resignation from the museum, Lethbridge devoted himself to parapsychology, publishing numerous books for a popular audience where he advocated for dowsing using pendulums, championed the witch-cult hypothesis, and articulated the Stone Tape theory of ghost sightings.Uncommon title and highly sought after,8vo 161pp First Edition 1st Impression [1967].…
