Bound (six-month) volume of The Strand magazine in original blue cloth boards with streetscape and with titles in black and gilt to spine, "very good." The individual issues bound without their original covers and advertisements, as usual. Volume will close its own text block. A 2-inch chunk has been torn away from top corner of half-title page, presumably removing a Previous Owner's Name. The six Sherlock Holmes stories (following two years after "A Scandal in Bohemia" and "The Speckled Band") here include The Cardboard Box, The Yellow Face, The Stockbroker's Clerk, The "Gloria Scott," The Musgrave Ritual, and The Reigate Squire -- of which only "The Musgrave Ritual" probably merits inclusion among the greatest of the tales. Also includes "Quastana the Brigand," translated from the French of Alphonse Daudet. This larger octavo weighs more than 3 lbs. -- overseas buyers should thus be prepared to approve this higher actual shipping cost when queried via ABE. 652 pp. Seller Inventory # 012232
