"This large and most ill-arranged volume contains, apparently, whatever Mr. Janson could recollect of America, aiding his memory by a few notes and memorandums. He went to America with high expectations, engaged in several speculations, all of which failed, and after thirteen years' absence, returned to England, where, as many others have done since, he vented his spleen in writing a book" (Sabin recording the Monthly Review, LIII. 443). The beautiful plates include images of Mount Vernon, the Bank of the United States, Boston, and Philadelphia. Abbey Travel 648; Sabin 35770. Catalogued by Kate Hunter.
