The Stranger

This first edition features three fox-hunting reminiscences: "The Stranger" by Marcellus L. Davis, "Tate's Band" by Henry P. Davis, and "E-String" by C.T. Davis - Charles T. Davis. Includes a Foreword by renowned Tennessee outdoor writer and columnist Nash Buckingham. Dardanelle, Arkansas native Marcellus L. Davis served as American consul general to the British West Indies during President Grover Cleveland's administration and was also judge of the Arkansas fifth judicial circuit. The book's other two contributors were the judge's sons - Henry Davis was a newspaper and magazine columnist/editor as well as secretary of the American Wildlife Institute and Charles Davis was Arkansas poet laureate from 1923 to 1945. The dust jacket that has some minor chipping is protected in a mylar cover. Off-white cloth boards; gilt stamped dog vignette at front board center and spine's gilt stamping all remain fairly bright. Light purple top edge; Binding is tight and firm. Beautiful illustrations by Fred F.
