Olsen's higher education includes completion of the German Staff College ( Die Führungsakademie der Bundeswehr ) between 2003 and 2005. He also has PhD in Strategic Studies from De Montfort University, majoring in English from the University of Trondheim and master's degree in British politics and literature from the University of Warwick and engineering in electronics from Trondheim college of Engineering.
