From the back cover: "During the chaos and turbulence of the Great Depression, the streamlined teardrop form stood as a clear and optimistic symbol of progress and efficiency. Evolved from scientific principles and adapted to airplanes, trains, ships and automobiles, the streamlined form soon became identified with modernity." The covers are splitting at the corners. The edges of the corner are fraying and have small rips in places. The spine has several creases. There are a few moderate stains on the back cover. The pages are similarily dingy on the edges, but very clean on the inside. --- We are a Benedictine Monastery/Seminary Library; thank you for your support.

Store description
Mount Angel Abbey Library is housed in a world-renowned building designed by Finnish architect, Alvar Aalto. The architecture of the Abbey Library reflects and shapes its spirit and purpose. The building's natural light illumines the multi-color bindings, offered on open stacks against a disciplined black and white background, softened by undulating curves and light colored wood. The structure, including three stories and a mezzanine, was completed in 1970. The library is a part of Mount Angel Abbey a community of Benedictine Monks.…
