As you can see from the photos, the red covers are in very nice condition, very clean with very little wear, really only a small crease at the bottom edge of the spine. The page edges are clean. The bottom page edge is rough-cut, but the bottom edges of the pages are smooth not jagged. As is often the case with rough-cut bottom edges, the lengths of the pages can vary. Here that is only the case with a small minority, the title page through to the dedication page and a handful or so in the text of the book are shorter than the rest. The book is decently bound. Most of the pages are nicely tight, some just a little less so. There are no cracks or spaces between any of the pages. The covers are tightly bound and have no binding issues. The pages in the text are in very solid condition. They are very clean and I'm not finding any conspicuous creasing, no turned-down corners or placeholder creases. There are no markings anywhere in the book. No attachments. And no one has written their name or anything else anywhere. There's some spotting/foxing on the inside covers and blank end papers, but nowhere else. You can see the dust jacket in the first few photos. It's held up rather nicely. The 'Minus'in the jacket rating is due to the sliver of loss at the top edge of the spine. The white of the rear cover is toned and has a few tiny spots. There is one tiny light spot on the front. The white flaps are also somewhat toned, but clean. There is a speck-sized spot on the front flap. The jacket is clipped at all four corners and the price is not present. I've had the jacket in a fitted protective cover for as long as I've owned the book which goes back a good number of years. 'Harry Summerfield Hoff was an English novelist, writing under the name William Cooper. The Struggles of Albert Woods was his second published novel under his pen name. His first, Scenes from Provincial Life, was hailed at once by writers such as Kingsley Amis, Anthony Burgess and John Braine who wrote: "This book was for me -- and I suspect many others--a seminal influence.".
