A lovely collection of some of Field's most beloved poems for children, brought to new life with the charming illustrations of Fern Bisel Peat, whose pen-and-ink drawings & full-color drawings accentuate each of the book's decorated pages, along with the colorfully illustrated DJ! Unpaginated. A FIRST EDITION, unknown printing, from 1930, this large quarto ((9.5" x 12") has colorfully decorated red paper over quarter black cloth-covered boards. Condition is VG+: exceptionally clean & bright save for just a couple of foxed spots to front endpapers/slight offsetting to rear. Interior pages have just mild tanning to edges, but completely unmarked. The sewn binding is strong & straight, hinges secure. Exterior shows slight rubbing to extremities, heavy at corners, with some paper loss there. The hard-to-find-in-any-condition unclipped DJ is Good+: colorful & bright, with mild-moderate rubbing to extremities & a few chips & creases, paper loss at corners; beautifully protected in new clear mylar cover Free (removed for photos).
