(195x120x10mm), blue cloth covers with printed paper label on spine, some slight browning on half title and colophon page at rear o/w a nice clean copy. Beautifully printed on Eltham hand-made paper using the classic Adana 8x5. A very thorough piece of research giving not only a potted history of each mill, but also a detailed list of papers available. Mills in 12 countries are represented, all in Europe, plus 2 mills in India. As Mr. Beale points out in his useful introduction It is a remarkably small list of hand-made papers, considering that 175 years ago all paper was made by hand from rags, whereas today the world's production can be listed in a few short pages . Doubtless many of the mills do not now exist, but I think there has been a resurgence of interest since this book was published and several mills have been started up.
