Green cloth with gilt titles on spine. Contents tight and clean with no inscriptions or markings. Dust jacket is age-discoloured and has a repaired tear to front. Slight musty odour. In 1788 the first strictly regulated patterns of swords for military use were adopted, and it is from that year that the author traces the history and development of those issued to various branches of the army. Appendices include listing the colours of the sword knots.
