First Edition (1972) so stated. Very Good+: shows mild nudges to the front corner tips: evidence of splatter stain to the upper fore-edge (only visible when held aslant to a light) and evident also very faintly to the peach-tinted top edge; several tiny coffee-like stains to the lower fore-edge; a former owner's name and place at the front free endpaper; the binding leans ever-so-slightly but remains secure; the text is clean. Free of any underlining, hi-lighting or marginalia or marks in the text. A handsome, carefully-used copy, structurally sound and tightly bound, showing mild wear and minor, unobtrusive imperfections. Remains quite bright and clean. NOT a Remainder, Book-Club, or Ex-Library. Large 8vo (9.5 x 6.35 x 1.6 inches) . Bibliography. Index. Language: English. Weight: 36 ounces. Black cloth over boards with gilt titles on a red band at the back-strip. Hardcover: Lacks DJ. ; Large 8vo 9" - 10" tall; xxx, 539 pages.
