FIRST PRINTING. 4to.(29 cm.)175pp. Profusely (!) illustrated with color and black and white captioned photos and drawings. Glossary and Index. Green cloth with gilt letters on the front cover and the spine and with Taubes' name in gilt on the front cover in the way he signed his paintings. Just touches of wear to the extremities, cloth clean and bright, gilt bright, all illustrations in fine condition, else near fine to fine with no internal markings. Dust jacket near fine. Educated at the academies of Vienna and Munich, and at the Bauhaus in Weimar, Frederic Taubes was a well-known and top-ranking professional painter, as well as an inspiring teacher. He taught at many colleges and universities in the US and Canada and authored several other books on painting technique. His paintings are found in many private collections and in the Metropolitan Museum of Art. This work is a classic on landscape painting. Seller Inventory # 01659
