The mutual attraction between the Swiss and the Siamese was cemented at the turn of the 20th century with King Chulalongkorn's visit to Europe. Of Siamese later sent to Europe for enlightenment by the King, a trip to Switzerland became mandatory; and in turn, many Swiss visited Siam. The authors of the text, both Swiss, lived in Thailand for many years and knew the country well. 121 pgs. Volume presented in 30 sectors covering history & traditions, major festivals, arts & crafts, theater, and the like, with 90 tipped-in and numbered color photographs by Swiss photographer Michael Wolgensinger (1913 - 1990).
