In the forward, he writes, "In telling the story of how sixty-three million dollars were raised in America to relieve the war-stricken Jews of Europe and Palestine, I have tried not to write a history. On the contrary, an effort will b made to give something of the actual pressure and multiplicity of the events themselves." Includes photos of American-Jewish leaders, and of the war relief campaign, including a striking photo of "Rev. Philip Klein blessing the first shipment of kosher beef from New York to the starving Jews of Poland.
