12mo. 7 3/4 x 5". 305pp. plus 6pp.ads. Original green embossed cloth. Lithograph frontispiece, wood engraved "Design for the Arms of California", and 5 lithograph plates after Revere's sketches, folding lithographed map "Harbour of San Francisco." Pencil signature on front pastedown: "Rush R. Sloane.". Cloth has spotting and spine is browned and rubbed at ends. Considerable foxing to the first few and last few pages, occasional spot within. Map is in nice condition, except for a couple spots. Kurutz, The California Gold Rush 529a; Zamorano 63. "Revere was the grandson of American revolutionary Paul Revere. His book is one of the outstanding authorities on the period of the conquest, and his descriptions of Californai and the gold regions are among the best.
