Beautiful copy of this colorful collection of stories about a little girl who meets all sorts of talking insects and animals in her garden. P. F. Volland, the Chicago-based publishing powerhouse of the first half of the 20th century, featured many of the period's most significant authors and artists in attractive, high-quality productions. Janet Laura Scott was one of Volland's go-to illustrators during the Jazz Age; her talent high-contrast composition paired with elements of japonisme and Art Deco make her art a treat for the eyes. This is an excellent copy of THE TURNED-INTO'S and a stylish example of Volland's output. 9'' x 6''. Original color pictorial boards. Color pictorial endpapers of a girl in her garden, surrounded by flowers and winged insects. Illustrated in color. Unpaginated. In original box with color pictorial lid. Box with a few repaired closed tears. Binding with mild edgewear, a touch of toning to spine; leaves with occasional finger soiling to margins. Colors vibrant. Near fine in very good plus box.
