22x14.3 cm, pp. [1]-12: ads [13-17] 18-247 [248] [249]-286: ads, original green cloth, spine panel stamped in gold and blind, front and rear panels stamped in blind, brown coated endpapers, all edges stained red. First edition. A scarce midwestern travel guide. The book includes 50 pages of advertisements from businesses in Indiana, Illinois, Iowa, Nebraska and Wyoming Territory, including the Union Pacific Railroad, "now open from Omaha to Benton . 350 miles nearer the gold and silver mines of Nevada, Idaho and Montana than any other line," plus an inserted plate with a hand-colored illustration of a Studebaker Wagon. Checklist of Chicago Anti-Fire Imprints, 1851-1871, 1414. Cloth worn at spine ends and corner tips, some bubbling and minor spotting to cloth, glue stains to front paste-down, a very good copy.
