The book was first published in English translation in the USA by Harcourt, Brace & World in 1966. ***Near fine in brown cloth-covered boards with gilt titles to the spine. The boards are clean and unmarked. Head and tail of spine slightly creased. No bumps. Corners sharp. Top edge of page block stained pink by the publisher. Internally also near fine with no inscriptions. Pages clean and bright with no foxing. No reading lean. Spine tight. Berlin map illustrated endpapers. ***In a near fine colour illustrated dustwrapper, which has not been price-clipped, retaining the original publisher's printed price of 30s. net. The dustwrapper is just slightly rubbed at the edges. A few light handling marks to the spine and back panel. No chips or tears. No fading. The story is told alternately by the man and the girl, in two views, two different sets of experience.
