291 pages mauve cloth with complete dustwrapper, slight lean out of true and dustwrapper dusty in appearance an inscription to top edge of endpaper "Marjorie Sankey Rowe. May 3rd 1947". Contents very clean and pages crisp. Priced 7/6d. *A book about horses and "trotting" horses by this neglected writer who died very young at 49 and was compared with Chekov at the time this book was published two years after he died of tuberculosis. A writer who's output was curtailed by 10 years in a Siberian Prison and a harsh existence, with only 3-4 novels and a few short stories to his legacy. It recalls the life of one jockey/trainer from pre-revolution Russia in 1915 and his passion for breeding a race-horse to outshine all others. Seller Inventory # 4417
