8vo. First edition. Original red cloth, lettered in white on the spine. the covers are a bit dulled and the spine is slightly faded. The spine ends and corner tips are a little pushed. The leading edge of the back board is partly rubbed. Neat ink ownership ('London. B.B.C.-Day minus One 45! 21 June 45') on the flyleaf. Very good. A very scarce Orwell item. He contributes the Introduction and 'The Re-discovery of Europe'. His co-editor of British Pamphleteers (1948) Reginald Reynolds addresses Prison Literature and E. M. Forster has two talks on Edward Gibbon and Tolstoy's Birthday.
