From the blurb It is singularly fitting that the official history of the Royal Tank Regiment, the arm that bloodied the tank on the battlefield, should have been written by an historian and military thinker who has spent most of his life propagating the gospel or armour, Captain b. H. Liddell Hart, described by the German Panzer Leader Guderian as a pioneer of a new type of warfare on the greatest scale. This history chronicles in forthright detail the battles of peacetime and wartime, the strivings of the wise men and the short sighted, of visionaries and reactionaries. It is a history, a textbook, a fascinating story. Both volumes are well illustrated and Volume One has 8 maps while Volume Two, dealing with World War Two, has 50 maps. Many of the maps are large fold outs. These two volumes, 462 and 555 pages respectively, are in near fine condition in near fine dust jackets, now in protective mylar wraps. The only issue with the books lies in Volume Two where the front of the pages are crimped in two places, impacting pages 19 to 76 and 10 pages in the index, up to .25 of an inch. No text is impacted. The issue with the dust jackets is a red stain on the back of volume One measuring about 1 inch by .5 inch. Both issues covered in the accompanying pictures. There is a written notation on the inside cover of both books indicating the books were purchased in 1962 at the Museum in Bovington (The Tank Museum). In laid in both volumes are bookmarks from the Royal Tank Regiment Benevolent, Memorial & Association Funds. This is a handsome set of a scarce British regimental history.
