An excellent example of the first edition of Jesse Stuart's award winning novel. The first edition, first printing of this work, with 'First Edition' to the colophon, and in the correct price unclipped first edition dust wrapper, with the Ishmael illustration to the front wrap.Stuart Jesse's work of American literature follows the central character and his poor family as they receive a large insurance pay out following the death of his uncle in World War I.With much of the writing in the Kentucky dialect, this is a fascinating work of American fiction published during the Second World War. In the publisher's original cloth binding, and unclipped dust wrapper. Externally, fine. Small closed tear to head of dust wrapper rear wrap, with a touch of edgewear to back strip tail. Internally, firmly bound. Pages clean and bright. Fine.
