Pamphlet. 8vo. 10 pp. Illustrated with 7 photographs. Original printed gray-green stapled wrappers. Near fine. Shands condemns sending patients to instrument makers for braces and not supervising or taking responsibility for appropriateness and fit of the device. He says now he makes most of his own braces by making a temporary plaster mold, then a celluloid casting from it. The celluloid was initially dissolved in acetone . . . Celluloid was the first synthetic plastic material developed in the 1860s & 1870s from nitrocellulose and camphor. Near fine.
