About this Item
Stated First Edition. Large Octavo (7x9"/23cm), 155 pages, illustrated in b/w by Grace Paull with her yellow-colored frontispiece and end-papers and full color dust jacket. Book is Near Fine: virtually no cover wear, clean and tight; original owner's name/address/date (Dec 1937) on blank flyleaf and a discreet bookstore sticker on front paste-down. The rare dust jacket is Very Good or better: spine a bit dull, small chips at corners and edges; the jacket flaps are un-clipped with the original $2.00 price. Stories of little girls "as they really are" at home in North Carolina and at school in New York City based on the Danville Virginia author's real life friendships, 1930's Southern characters and black dialect included. A largely forgotten (never reprinted) but still entertaining, well-written series of stories about five-year-old Teeny and her very tall friend. A small treasure for the avid collector of children's books and Southern lit. Quick, well-protected shipping. Seller Inventory # J21094
