Spine expertly rebacked. Overall a nice copy of a scarce book. William Bardwell [ 1795 - 1890 ] was an architect & sanitary engineer who seems to have devoted much of his carreer to the Victorian Passion for 'improving' existing buildings. In this book, which he published at his own expense, he displays, after a historical survey of Church Architecture several ideas & designs for enlarging & improving London's City churches. He dislikes Wren 'notwithstanding his errors of detail' and states that it is the Classical Italian which befits the Protestant Church Building. He designed Glenstal Abbey School in a mock medieval style, and many other minor public buildings. 1000 grams. Seller Inventory # 24731

For Domestic orders, additional books are shipped at a rate of £1.00 per book. Shipping rates to most European countries & the USA are now based upon the actual weight of the book or books, so ( all things being equal ) the price for shipping is the true cost of sending your order. So, a small paperback will be far cheaper than a large tome - CHEERS ABE FOR THIS. Orders to countries further afield ( Australia, Far East, South America etc ) are still base upon an 'average' book, so we may need to ask for additional shipping on heavier books. We ship to all nations. All items are packed individually and to a very high standard, using only easily recyclable materials. We DO NOT just stick the book in a polythene mailer with a prayer.
