First Edition, First Printing of this famous firsthand account of the Bolshevik October Revolution in St. Petersburg/ Petrograd by the leftist American journalist and activist John Reed. A dynamic early 20th century personality who died in his early 30s, Reed's life received romantic hero treatment in the Warren Beatty biopic "Reds." The Cold War era treatment of a dashing American Communist netted Beatty the Oscar for Best Director. (It was also nominated for Best Picture, but was nipped by the plucky Olympians of "Chariots of Fire.") Green cloth, 371 pages. A previous owner has applied clear tape to reinforce both the front and back hinges. The photos show both affected areas. Also, the illustration after page 272 is detached and has creasing at the edges. That's the only interior page that's loose. Otherwise, covers and interior page rate Very Good.
