Tender is the Night (with original dust jacket section)

This is a first printing copy of "Tender is the Night" by F. SCOTT FITZGERALD that comes with a portion of the original dust jacket. 1934 1st edition, 1st issue (with the Scribner's "A" 1st printing designation on the copyright page); Charles Scribner's Sons; New York. There are illustrations throughout by Edward Shenton. The bottom half of the original dust jacket has been clipped and affixed to the front pastedown. While probably not a collector's copy due to the condition of the covers (I was told that "a martini had spilled on the book" and that it was a "waste of a good martini".ha!), it's still a neat find, though, with a section of the original dust jacket present. Condition: Light soiling and dampstaining to the covers with some "bubbling" beneath the cloth (I was told that "a martini had spilled on the book" and that it was a "waste of a good martini".ha!). The lettering on the spine has faded a bit. There is a 1" tear to the cloth at the bottom-right corner of the front cover. Tiny cloth tears at the top edges of the spine, and at the top-right front cover corner, and bottom-left back cover corner. Tight binding with no cracks and no loose pages. Both covers are firmly attached. Consistent foxing and stains to the pages - mostly mild, though heavier on pages 341-345. "Book and Card Store" ink stamp on front pastedown, and at the top & bottom edges of the text block. Numerous dates have been stamped in ink (ranging from April 1934 to Feb 1936) on the front end paper. The front pastedown has an ID# written in ink at the top edge, and a portion of the original dust jacket back cover pasted onto the bottom 1/2 of the page. Overall in Fair condition only.…
