Texas Festivals

A month-by-month guide to festivals and fairs provides information on location, admission, contests, and special attractions

This guide offers a delightful romp through the cultural diversity of the Lone Star State by profiling over 300 of its festivals. Arranged by month within three general regions of Texas, each entry lists the festival name, community, dates, information address and phone, admission price, and a brief, enticing summary of its origin and activities. Large cities are handled in a separate alphabetical section at the end. Inclusion is random, with focus on "non-profit, community generated celebrations with multiple activities." A combined subject (45 food festivals!), community, and festival name index is useful if occasionally inconsistent. This is a good update to Ann Ruff's The Best of Texas Festivals (Lone Star Bks.: Pacesetter Pr., 1986) and a valuable addition to Southwest travel collections. Highly recommended.
