In the spirit of growing post-WWII concern about the "communist threat" posed by Russia, this book offered " a critical study of Communism's historical & ideological development from Marx to Stalin." In 232 pages with Notes & Index in rear. A FIRST EDITION, First Printing (British), from 1950, this hardcover has matte black cloth-covered boards, lettered in faded gilt to spine. Condition is Good: interior is very clean & completely unmarked save for former owner's name & date to front free endpaper. Endpapers show offsetting, interior pages modestly tanned with scattered foxing to exterior fore edge. Both boards mottled/stained to same edgeFront boards. The unclipped DJ (with orig. British 12s. 6d. price to lower front flap) is Fair: largely intact, but with heavy rubbing to extremities, chipping, & missing an entire 1/4" strip along top edge; nicely preserved in new mylar cover free!
