About this Item
Near complete set of the groundbreaking and powerful Third Woman Journal being 5 Issues complete in 4 volumes as well as a photocopied / facsimile edition of the first issue. The issues are: Volume 1 Issue 1 1981 Of Latinas in the Midwest Volume 1 Issue 2 1982 Looking East Volume 2 Issue 1 1984 Southwest / Midwest Volume 2 Issue 2 1984 Hispanic Women International Perspectives Volume 3 Issue 1 and 2 1986 Texas and More. All are original EXCEPT the first issue, which this professor had professionaly copied for use of study. From their website: On September 13, 1980, Norma Alarcón, a Chicana graduate student in the Department of Spanish and Portuguese at Indiana University, traveled to Chicago for a women writers conference. At the conference, Alarcón attended the Midwest Latina Writers Workshop, where, she would recall roughly one year later, the idea for [Third Woman] was first, if hesitantly, formulated. All issues are generally in excellent condition especially for age and nature. All are scarce individually, even more so together. No writing or marks inside any except for issue 1, which has former owners name on the front page. Issue 1, facsimile, is in a disbound, loose sheet format, folded together cleanly. All other issues perfect bound. All bindings are solid and square, tight. All issues have little to no wear except the first issue which is in a more fragile format, there is some toning around the edges and some very light but inoffensive bumping to the top edge of the back cover and handful of pages. The second issue which is also in matte wraps rather than the later glossy issues, there is an even lesser but still present edge toning and a couple of visible rubbed areas on the back cover. Otherwise perhaps the teeniest corner bumps and very negligible expected shelfwear, now all in mylar. From the home of a smoker, but lacking any exceptional signs as such, but to sensitive noses and eyes one may pick up the most faint odor. except for the international issue, focus on particular regions of the US.
