xii, 68 + 30 plates. Small folio, red cloth over boards, gilt panel decorations on covers, gilt title on spine, t.e.g, all others uncut. Catalogue of a small fraction of the approximately 300 bindings shown during a two-day exhibition mounted by the First Edition Club and held in Sir Philip Sassoon's private house in London. While the exhibition was of mostly English bindings from 1660-1700, this catalogue includes five Grolier bindings, and one each by Wotton and Derome. Also included are bindings executed for Pepys, Charles II and others. Each of the thirty bindings is described in detail and illustrated with a full-page plate, some in color. One of 600 copies; this copy not numbered. Near fine; slight curve to the covers; interior pages and plates fine, light bump to lower corners.
