"First Published in this edition,1964" appears on the copyright page. First Thus. The Children's Illustrated Classics. The book is tightly bound in clean decorated cloth with the title and author stamped in red on the front cover and spine. There is a clean impression of a paper clip on the top edge of the frontispiece. Otherwise the pages are pristine, smooth and unmarked. The dust jacket is in near fine condition with minimal shelf wear on the top edges of panels. the original price -"$3.25" is on the top of the front flap. The bottom corner of the front flap has been clipped. Includes a color frontis and line drawings in text by British painter, author and illustrator Edward Ardizzone winner of the inaugural Kate Greenaway Medal. 145 pp plus 4 pages of Dent advertisements. Operating through a retail outlet located at 200 Maine St. in Brunswick and through its on-line sales activities, Curtis Friends operates only with volunteers from the local community and sells only those books donated by its constituents. Curtis Friends has been in existence for several decades.
