Thor Modern Era Epic Collection: The World Eaters

A heroic age begins for the God of Thunder, written by acclaimed author Matt Fraction, as Thor's adventures take him across Earth, Asgard, and beyond!

In the wake of SIEGE, Asgard must take its proper place as the Golden Realm, most glorious of the Nine Worlds of myth. But that means Thor’s home isn’t just a beacon — it’s a target! So what happens to the Asgardians and the denizens of all Nine Worlds — including Earth —when a dark, destructive force from another reality comes on the warpath? Then, when the nefarious Grey Gargoyle sets out to attain godhood in Asgard, Thor must stand in the way of the dreaded villain with the power to turn his enemies to stone! Plus: Thor and Sif dive deep into the heart of the fractured World Tree to reclaim an artifact from beyond time and space — one that attracts the Silver Surfer’s attention. And when a herald such as he arrives on Earth, his master, Galactus, is certain to follow!

Having established his reputation as an emerging talent with his work on Last of the Independents, Matt Fraction launched the critically acclaimed Immortal Iron Fist with co-writer Ed Brubaker and artist David Aja. He subsequently collaborated with artist Salvador Larrocca on Invincible Iron Man, premiering the same month as the blockbuster film. Also a talented filmmaker and graphic designer, Fraction became one of Marvel’s most popular writers. His credits include Uncanny X-Men, Thor and its successor The Mighty Thor, the blockbuster Fear Itself, and the relaunched Defenders. Fraction teamed with David Aja for the Eisner Award-winning Hawkeye. Beyond Marvel, his acclaimed creator-owned work includes Sex Criminals, Casanova, ODY-C and November.

Artist Olivier Coipel caught the eyes of Avengers fans with his work in a series of startlingly fresh and exciting stories in 2004, then delivered a star turn on the 2005 blockbuster limited series House of M. Proving his mettle with the grand splendor and huge cast of a Marvel epic, he earned the plum assignment of restoring the hallowed halls of Asgard to grandeur in J. Michael Straczynski’s Thor. Again called on to illustrate a Marvel mega-event, Coipel reunited with House of M writer Brian Michael Bendis on Siege. His subsequent credits include returns to the world of the Thunder God, as well as contributions to Amazing Spider-Man, X-Men and Avengers vs. X-Men.
