Totals 586 pages including illustrated frontispiece, engraved illustrations and index in rear. Very good with rubbing to decorative white cloth and professional repair to hinges; substantial chipping to edges of free endpapers. Pages a bit tanned, otherwise very clean with just a few smudges. A previous owner wrote "1884" below this and also at the top outside corner of the front pastedown, but research indicates the first printing appeared in 1887.
