FIRST EDITION in light blue cloth with gilt titling, color frontis. of Benny Haven's Nest, color plates, 277pp. Dustin #391. Krick #138. O'Keefe #829. Good with some soiling and rubbing at edges; association library bookplate on front pastedown but not usual library markings - more like a private bookmark; small tape repaired on back of frontis. Dustin included this work because of its material on both Custer and West Point. Farley was an aide with the United States Coast Survey on the rivers James and York and, during the war, served as a Union officer. "A warm, romantic, and somewhat rambling look at historic scenes associated with the three rivers and at Farley's own association with them. The naval fight between the Monitor and the Virginia, the Seven Days Campaign, and Grant's 1864 operations against Richmond are all traced. The Dutch Gap Canal project is especially well covered.".
