3 volumes in fine blue morocco gilt with raised bands by Riviere, AEG, the front boards of volumes 1 and 3 are detached, other joints weak. 30 hand-colored aquatint plates by Thomas Rowlandson in volume 1, 24 each in volumes 2 and 3. Otherwise, light wear at extremities, particularly the bottoms of the spines. All three volumes are first editions. Volume I is the first issue, with the initial header being Chapter 1 and plate 5 (page 14) having the girl's right arm straight. Plate 15 in volume 2 is second state, with Skimmington, not Skimerton, in the title. In spite of repairs needed to restore detached boards, this is a very attractive set of this key work illustrated by Rowlandson. Tooley 427, 428, 429. Abbey (Life) 266, 267 cover volumes 2 and 3. Tooley 427: "The first edition of First Tour is the rarest of the 3 volumes.".
