Original green cloth boards, clean cream paper, intact map to rear. A little aged and dusty in places. Portrait frontispiece. Front and rear internal hinges cracked and therefore both boards are very wobbly but the text block is firm and tight. Fold-out map to rear (General Map of South Africa 1902) is Fine condition though unprinted area of hinge has a tear.Ownership signature of J. Exelby, Low Burton. The state of the covers can not be ascertained as the book is covered in a wonderfully practical sewn sackcloth or hessian cover. PROVENANCE COPY: Masham Reading Circle (North Yorkshire, England) with their Circulation label pasted on front end-paper. Consisting of a list of 36 printed names, their brief address and date (entered by hand) when the book should be circulated, 1903-1904.
