About this Item

Handsomely bound in finely woven dark green cloth and stamped brightly in gilt on the front boards and on the spine (The Ticker Magazine/The Ticker/ Vol. I). Rubbing and a touch of fraying to the top and bottom of the spine ends and at the corners. Very clean and tight throughout. Printed on good paper with a slight gloss to it. Very readable and in very good condition. Laid in is: The Ticker's "Learn the Business of Investment and Speculation flyer. The previous owner has glued a sticker on the bottom corner of the rear panel with his printed name & "private library/ please return" on it. Rather a fascinating collection of articles, photographs, engravings, sketches, all relating to the burgeoning world of the 1907-1908 stock and bond markets. There are photos of Bond Houses on Pine Street, bank interiors, and a floor plan of J.S. Bache & Co's brokerage offices. Also present and integral is the special "Subscription Blank" for The Ticker Magazine and The Story of Erie (for $3.00). "This is Wyckoff's first book. Richard Wyckoff was one of the most successful stock traders of his time and a genius when it came to marketing his services and material. During the early 1930s, at the height of the Great Depression, he had over 6000 subscribers who paid $5 a month for his Ticker Tape Reading service. This was in addition to his now famous and very rare course which he published in 1931 and sold for $500 a copy. Bear in mind that one could purchase a car at that time for the same amount of money. Wyckoff's techniques are still being taught at some universities and financial institutions. Just about all of his books are collectible and sought out by collectors."
