138 p. 24 cm. Grey cloth in psychedelic dustjacket. Some soiling and slight wear to jacket edges. Almost imperceptible dampstain to portion of final few pages and endpapers but jacket's back panel dampstained and wrinkled. Prose by a US jazz musician imprisoned in New Jersey at the time of publication. Intro by Jim Christy. Named after Chaplin's first feature movie, Tillie's Punctured Romance is a series of poetic improvisations on themes central to Leeds' life: drugs, religion, love, jazz, movies, show business. Leeds was serving a sentence at Trenton State Prison for drugs. From Atlantic City originally, Leeds was once a professional jazz bassist who played with Woody Herman, Buddy Rich, Al Cohn, Charlie Parker and others. After that he spent time in treatment centres, mental hospitals and jails.
