A smart first edition of this scarce work exploring timber and timber trees. First edition. Scarce work. With illustrations throughout. A handy book and botanical treatise on home and foreign timber for ship and house-building purposes, with practical applications and knowledge. Includes chapters on exogenous species, annual layers, effects of soil, defects, irregular growth, various oak species, and more. Written by Thomas Laslett, a British author and Timber Inspector to the Admiralty. In the original green cloth binding. Externally, smart with light rubbing and bumping to the extremities. Minor fading to the spine with the odd small mark to the boards. Library sticker to the tail of the spine. Front hinge just starting but firm. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are very bright with the odd spot or handling mark. Further spotting to the endpapers. Natural History Society bookplate to the front pastedown. Very Good.
