Beige cloth boards in fine condition having been protected for 77 years by a good DJ, wholly intact but with wear to edges and a few closed tears. Ruth C Williams was an Australian writer for children who was born 1897 in London. In 1950 she received the Children's Book of the Year Award for Verity of Sydney Town. She was married to Australian landscape artist Rhys Williams, who illustrated each of her books. THis copy was retailed as a vintage and collectible edition by Higgs Bookshop Sydney and bears its stamp. Ronald Stanley Higgs, whose George Street shop opened in 1975 and was a Sydney Institution among students, bohemians, book dealers and passers-by needing shelter from the rain. Mr Higgs died in 1990, two years after his bookshop closed.
