Publisher's light tan cloth with titles in brown on the spine and titles and vignette in brick red on the top board, signed by the author on the front endpaper. With 46 illustrations by A.J. (Alfred) Munnings This collection of short stories is quite an entertaining read, but perhaps its main interest lies in its being an early example of illustration work by Alfred Munnings, later to be famous as a great painter of horses. There are no horses in these illustrations, though there is a dog, and they do have great charm and variety. There are both full-page illustrations and smaller illustrations within the text and as titles for each story. The book is in very good condition, with handling marks to the cloth, but internally clean and bright with only a couple of very light marks, and tightly bound. Rare. Octavo, 19cm tall, 266 pages plus publisher¿s catalogue (5 pages).
