The Tolkien Reader is an anthology of works by J. R. R. Tolkien. It includes a variety of short stories, poems, a play and some non-fiction by Tolkien. 1st First printing of the original 1966 Ballantine Books mass market paperback edition with cover illustration of man sleeping on a hill with birds and fish in the air. This copy was a complimentary copy, probably pre-release, from Anne Ford publicity director at Houghton Mifflin. Still has her comp card inside. Very good condition, does not appear to have been read. Exterior is discolored and pages bowned due to shelf sitting for 50+ years. Binding is tight, no tears or damage to covers.
