1830. [Tolls and Customs, Ireland. Copies of the schedules of tolls and customs at fairs and markets, deposited with the several clerks of the peace throughout Ireland.] This is a comprehensive and invaluable report, which shows us the value of tolls etc. in every area of the island. There is incredible detail, from cheese, to coal, to sacks of eels. The report breaks down into different counties and towns the tolls, and shows us what was collected from where, and, interesting by whom it was collected. The initial lists are for Antrim, Carrickfergus, Armagh, Carlow, Cavan, Clare, Cork, Donegal, Down, Drogheda, Dublin, Fermanagh, Galway, Galway Town, Kerry, Kildare, Kilkenny, Kilkenny City, King's County (Offaly), Leitrim, Limerick, Limerick City, Londonderry, Longford, Louth, Mayo, Meath, Monaghan, Queen's County (Laois), Roscommon, Sligo, Tipperary, Tyrone, Waterford, Waterford City, Wexford and Wicklow. Within each of these headings there are further subheadings, with the result that the results are open to study at a minute local level as well as a national one. The results for Kildare are not included as they were not received in time for publication. The report is in astonishingly good condition. 199 pages. Disbound, housed in protective file.
