There are eccentrics like the saddle tramp, the solitary swagman or the 'better (driven and by solitude), or the lonely rancher whose well trained menagerie consists of two dogs and a Kangrooo. The courage and endurance, rough loyalty and comradeship, and moments of terror like the cat0tle stampede or the account of brumbie-running, are unforgettable, as are the colours of the bush seen at sunrise from a sandstone escarpment.
