Hard back book with colourful illustrated cover and spine. 239 pages with 33 black and white illustrations. No date given, but later than January 1887. Some fading of the red colour especially on spine; back somewhat faded and worn in places; damage to title oval on spine. But book is still tightly bound with covers firmly attached. No writing or marks. The illustration on the front cover (lady and 2 children on a passenger boat) differs from that on all other copies we have seen which show a large sailing ship.
