Octavo, original boards, illustrated with photographs from the film by Mrs. F. H. Flaherty. Very good in the original dust jacket which is in good condition. Kipling's short story about a young elephant handler, Toomai of the Elephants was first published in the December 1893 issue of St. Nicholas Magazine and reprinted in Kipling's The Jungle Book in 1894. The story was adapted in the the 1937 London Film Production, Elephant Boy directed by Robert J. Flaherty and Zoltan Korda and starring India's first child actor, Sabu Dastagir, in his debut role.
