About this Item
Scarce. Square quarto in illustrated heavry stock softcovers over cloth spine. 48 pp. with publisher's adverts inside both covers. The outer spine is lacking but otherwise the piece is in very good condition, internally clean, an old childish ownership signature on the outer rear cover, a series of small punch holes top outer corner of the firts page not affecting any text or illustration. The first published collection of cartoons by illustrator Fontaine Fox (1884-1964), creator of the gently humorous "Toonerville Folks" comic strip that ran from 1913 until 1955. One of the most popular of the World War I period and beyond, the strip would eventually run in some 300 newspapers. Scare in any condition given the inexpensive stock on which it was printed and its oversized format. Seller Inventory # E23944
