About this Item
Volume I 314 pages. Volume II 300 pages. Brief history of the game since 1457. Of more significant golfing importance is the account of how John Patersone, a shoemaker, won enough money on a golf match, to build a fine stone house in the Cannongate. This house still exists today, with its original stone motto "appropriate to the distinction which its owner had acquired as a golfer." Binding appears contemporary to the publication date, wear to edges but sound with original endpapers. Spotted pastedown offset, scattered corrections and historical marginalia neatly added by a former owner else clean throughout: no former owner name or bookplate, no stains, soiling, creases, tears. Covers protected in mylar. Size: 16mo - over 5¾" - 6¾" tall. Seller Inventory # 202444
