Add to basketSamuel French, New York, 1949. Hardcover, 115 pp. Herman Wouk's first produced play. The Traitor opened at New York's 48th Street Theatre and ran from March 31 to May 28, 1949, with 67 performances. Includes a complete cast list for the Broadway run, and two black & white photo illustrations. Described in the press as "an A-Bomb Thriller" (NY Daily News) and "As Hot as Tomorrow's Newspaper" (NY World-Telegram), the play reflected the moral complexity and changing geopolitics of the newly-launched Atomic Age (see 'Oppenheimer'). This was author Herman Wouk's own copy. Near fine in a very good dust jacket with light soiling and 2 small chips near spine. Now in a new mylar sleeve.
